Knightly Motifs in Pedro de Oña’s El vasauro: The Loving Requirement and the Penance of Love
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article studies two motives of chivalry (the requirement of love and the penance of love) in El vasauro, a poem by Pedro de Oña. It seeks to identify and analyze the motives that characterized chivalric narrative in a work composed in the Viceroyalty of Peru in 1635, when the editorial decline of chivalric romances began. Some significant elements shared with the Spanish pastoral narrative are also highlighted.
