Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the fields of study of the Geography of education, Geographical education, and Comparative education, their common points, and differences. The antecedents and the advances in the Geography of education are reviewed, mainly in the European countries, where it has a greater development, according to the existing work. Likewise, the basic concepts of their field of study, his tools, and the topics they address are examined, mentioning the main geographers dedicated to this field of geography. The importance of the geography of education and how it is nourished by comparative education and various fields, both in human geography and in the social sciences in general, will be explored in a way that manifests its multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary nature. Based on the reviews of the work of European and Latin American geographers, the article concludes by pointing out the importance of conducting new studies of educational geography in other regions of the world to contribute to the solution of numerous educational problems, since the research work carried out by educators, they generally lack a spatial dimension provided by geography.
