Abstract

It is well known the way Nietzsche’s thougth identifies a friend as an enemy, and it might be the most polemical aspect of his conception of friendship. In this paper I refer some ideas of two thinkers who had some infuence on Nietzsche about this subject: Emerson and Schopenhauer. Then I analize in which sense the friend can be an enemy for Nietzsche, and I analize also some ideas about Jacques Derrida and Paul an Tongeren’s thougth on this subject, and mark the difference between the distintion of the friend as a camarade and the friend as an enemy in Nietzsche’s phylosophy. Finally I will question the meaning of the absence of the compassion in Nietzsche’ thougth.
