Abstract

This paper tries to find the ontological resonances in Muerte sin fin by José Gorostiza, in Muerte de cielo azul by Bernardo Ortiz de Montellano, and in Nostalgia de la muerte by Xavier Villaurrutia. In mexican poetry, a desubstantalisation of being occurs because of death, and being founds itself at the same time than nothingness. In this process, the extinction of “Ego” occurs. This poets deal with the problems of being in relation with nothingness, of the relations between life and death, from a non-dualist perspective, but one that focuses in interrelations. “Tranquility of soul and poetry in De rerum natura” (Óscar Martiarena). After showing how the essential features of the thought of Epicurus are deployed along the De rerum natura, the author argues that in the poem, as well as staying true to his master, Lucretius invites us to dwell poetically nature, always as an exercise philosophy designed to achieve the peace of the soul.
