Les problèmes sociaux révélés par la fiction critique française contemporaine : Cora dans la spirale de Vincent Message

Abstract

Following the research Project carried out between 2019 and 20221, La littérature de terrain qui vise à réparer le monde, this article offers a sociocritical reading of two new contemporary novels entitles Cora dans la spirale of Vincent Message (2019) and Brèves de solitude of Sylvie Germain (2021). It is important to specify the emphasis placed on the methodological approach aimed at faciliting a future application of this sociocritical approach by any reader to other texts. First, it is a question of developing a theoretical-critical framework that gives the definitions of the key concepts adapted to these two literary narratives: sociogram, sociotext/chronotope, discursive and social mediations, habitus, social imaginary. This definitional reference is based on the contribution of socio-criticians and sociologists such as Claude Duchet, Patrick Maurus, Pierre Popovic, Anthony Glinoer and Pierre Bourdieu, or other thinkers, François Hartog and Dominique Viart, to foster interdisciplinary exchanges. Secondly, this same paradigm conceptual supports the reading in order to reveal the underlying socio-economic cogs that deeply disturb the existence of the protagonists. To this, it must be added that the proposed approach is intended to be open and perfectible as desired by sociocriticism in the plural, personal and collective, heterogeneous and internationalist.
