Ernesto Ragazzoni (1870-1920), primer traductor de Poe en Italia

Abstract

Ernesto Ragazzoni was the earliest translator and introducer of Edgar Allan Poe in Italy. A poet who had no true faith in himself, Ragazzoni bestowed upon 13 translations of the Bostonian’s poems, extraordinary musical capacity and keen sensitivity. His translations are reviewed in terms of accuracy and licenses as an outstanding example of what can be a case of a poet who poetically revives another poet.
